With another NFL season in the books, the year moves on. In just a few days the sun will start to shine a little brighter. The temperature will feel just a little warmer. The birds will sing a little louder.

It’s just a matter of days until pitchers and catchers report for Spring Training.

Another baseball season, and I’m a sucker. Life’s not easy being a Cubs fan, but it has taught me a few things.

You Gotta Have Faith

Growing a business is not an easy thing. If you don’t believe in your business, no one else will. Sometimes, the odds will seem enormously stacked against you. But go ahead, take a chance. Do something out of the ordinary to market your business. It may not work, or you may hear the word “No.”

Like anything else, you won’t move ahead, if you don’t try.

This Is Next Year

It’s February, and we’ve got the whole year ahead of us. This is make or break time for those New Year’s resolutions, about growing your business. Don’t “Wait ’til next year.” Take action now.

Improve Your Farm System

With the recent change in leadership on the North Side, the Cubs have placed an added emphasis on the farm system. They’re adding an extra emphasis on player development. This creates a stronger foundation for the organization. You can create a stronger foundation for your business as well.

This means taking a look at all of your marketing materials. Are they up to date, and up to your standards? Your marketing materials are often the first exposure that customers have to your business. If your weakest link is in need of attention, it may be time for a fix.

Create An Unforgettable Environment

It’s impossible to talk about being a Cubs fan without mentioning Wrigley in the same breath. It’s a great place to see a ball game. Is your business doing everything it can to perfect the experience? You could be perfecting your customer service and teaching skills in order to offer your clients more. They need to talk about doing business with you the way that fans talk about seeing a game at Wrigley.

You’ve Got To Field The Right Team

Improving the farm system is crucial. It embodies the “You’re only as good as your weakest link,” philosophy. Making the playoffs takes star power. You have to be clutch.

No matter what they tell you, there’s no such thing as curses. It’s about good baseball, and good business!
